PSP Vintage Meter

Alternate Text

VU stands for "Volume Unit". VU meters are often encountered in professional analog tape deck, umatic Betacam recorders, and gauges VU meter itself. VU meter needle is used as a pointing device useful for measuring and measuring the volume of the audio. But VU meters are very different from the meter-meter or analyzer in DAW like nuendo, cubase or Adobe Audition, meters that measure to count this one db, and has a different way of working.

VU meter helps us in the process of mixing and more helpful on mastering process. VU meter can be set as desired, eg in general engineer-menyetting-12dB to 6dB when mixing and mastering. With a tune-6dB, which means that if we placyback audio and needle VU meter shows more than the number 0 (red) then the audio exceeds the limit (broken voice, peak, clip). That way, the VU meter is very useful to the engineer in determining an appropriate volume when mastering.
